Faster, Reliable VM Provisioning on Azure with HyWorks & HyLabs

2 min read - Oct 23, 2025

Managing secure virtual environments for employees, vendors, or students is no small feat. Whether you’re running the show for an enterprise or an academic institution with thousands of users, provisioning and managing virtual machines in the cloud is a critical part of your daily operations.

With the release of HyWorks v3.6 SP1, Accops integrates Azure Compute Gallery directly into HyWorks and HyLabs, making VM provisioning faster, more reliable, and easier to scale.

Why This Matters

Until now, most Azure VM provisioning relied on managed images. While they worked, they often slowed down large-scale deployments, were tied to specific regions, and made version control cumbersome. For IT teams, this meant bottlenecks, inconsistencies, and added administrative effort.

Azure Compute Gallery changes this by providing a smarter way to create, manage, and replicate images across regions. By bringing this capability directly into the HyWorks and HyLabs consoles, Accops removes the manual overhead and makes provisioning seamless.

What’s New for IT Teams

With this integration, IT admins can:

  • Manage images directly within HyWorks & HyLabs
Create, update, and use image versions without switching to Azure.
  • Provision at scale with confidence
Roll out hundreds or thousands of VMs in minutes, with predictable performance.
  • Ensure consistency across users
Every VM is built from a standard, up-to-date image, eliminating discrepancies.
  • Choose flexible replication modes
    • Shallow Replication (default): cost-efficient, copies metadata first.
    • Full Replication: pre-copies complete images for instant multi-region availability.

This is a direct productivity gain for IT teams, cutting down provisioning time and complexity.

Compatibility & Support

  • Supports cloning from image versions, Gold Master snapshot management, and reservation workflows.
  • Admins can configure replication settings, gallery names, publishers, and offers directly in the console.

Note: Managed image-based cloning is no longer supported. Image creation may take up to five minutes, and admins must remain on the page until completion.

Conclusion

By integrating Azure Compute Gallery into HyWorks and HyLabs, Accops enables IT teams to scale faster, maintain consistency, and simplify virtual machine management. Whether it’s smooth onboarding and project rollouts for enterprises or reliable lab environments for educational institutions, this update removes provisioning delays and lets organisations focus on outcomes instead of infrastructure.
